JOB DESCRIPTION MANAGER OF ACQUISITIONS ORGANZATION INFORMATION HBO Latin America Group SM (“HBO LAG”) owns, operates and distributes the leading cable and satellite pay television services in Latin America, Brazil and the Caribbean, including HBO®, HBO® Plus, HBO® Family, Cinemax®, Max PrimeSM, A&E, ANIMAX, AXN, E! Entertainment Television, Sony Entertainment Television, The Biography Channel, The History Channel and Warner ChannelSM. THE POSISTION Title: Manager, Acquisitions Reporting Relationship Senior Director, Acquisitions Location: Travel required Schedule: Availability to work from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, as well as overtime during the weekday and on weekends when necessary. Travel Requirements: 25% Summary The Manager, Acquisitions ensures programming needs are met through acquisitions. He/She identifies, evaluates and negotiates to acquire top quality programming for all HBO Latin America services. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: His or her duties include the following. Other duties may be assigned. · Develops new and maintains long standing relationships with independent program distributors. · Identifies and evaluates potential independent products for all HBO Latin America channels. · Negotiates business terms of licensing deals with independent program distributors. · Intermediates issues regarding traffic and other operations activities to ensure delivery and quality control of broadcasting materials. · Manages independent programs acquisition activities against corresponding budget categories. · Attends major international and domestic program markets. · Provides legal, business affairs, programming and marketing departments with updated information regarding all deals. · Participates in project planning for future independent programming acquisitions. · Provides Senior Director of Acquisitions with regular status reports of independent program acquisitions. QUALIFICATIONS The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. · Bachelor degree in Business or equivalent. Master or MBA desirable. · Minimum 3 years of experience in TV content programming negotiation. Understanding of the economics of television and budget process is essential. · Fluency in English and Spanish both written and spoken. Portuguese desirable. · Computer literacy: Microsoft Office Package. · Excellent knowledge of film market and products. · Strong negotiation skills. · Ability to do research. · Ability to collaborate with various departments. Delivers information effectively in a variety of settings including one-on-one, team setting and presentations, and in a variety of formats including letters, memos. Explains concepts and procedures clearly and completely while maintaining attention and interest. Shows tact and diplomacy. |
